Pastor - Rev. Dr. Brian Byrne

Brian was raised in Chicago and began serving with the United Church of Christ prior to graduating seminary.  He received a BA in Philosophy and Religion from Rockford College, and received his Master of Divinity from Chicago Theological Seminary.  In 2005, he received his Doctor of Ministry from Chicago Theological Seminary.  

Brian and his wife, Sharlene, were married in the Chicago area in 1981.  They have two sons, Connor  and Brendan. Brian and Sharlene are also the proud grandparents of two grandsons, Aiden and Owen. Brian enjoys cooking, cycling and golf.  Brian and Sharlene enjoy music and movies. 

Brian has been active in many communities with not for profits, such as Family Promise and Habitat for Humanity.  He has started a CROP Walk in Hamilton County, IN, and worked to resettle over 50 refugees from many different countries.

               

 

Church Council President- Melissa Pletkovich

 

Melissa has been a life-long member of St. Paul; baptized, confirmed, and married in the church.

She graduated from Pekin High School and Illinois State University with a Bachelor's degree in Education. She has been teaching in Peoria Public Schools for 19 years, currently teaching 3rd grade at Hines Primary.

She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, fishing, birdwatching and exercising.  Gail is a volunteer with YWCA Adult Literacy.

Choir Director - Sharon Reed

Reed grew up in the segregated South of the fifties and sixties, and is the founder and director of the well-renowned Heritage Ensemble--a vocal group whose mission is to "tear down walls and build bridges between all people."  

Reed is also well-known as one of the most beloved choir directors in Pekin High School history.  Reed came to District 303 in 1994 and has said that it didn't take long for her to realize that God had a significant purpose for leading her there. 

“I am certain that I will feel right at home in worship with you. I am looking forward to working with all of you as we make a joyful noise unto the Lord.” 

 

Organist - Gayle Cooper

 

Gayle has served as organist  for St. Paul church for many years.  She lives in Macomb with her husband, Dr. John Cooper.

 

 

 

 

Office Manager - Betsy Rylee

                                

 

Betsy joined the St. Paul Church staff in August, 2012. She was raised in Washington, IL, and now lives in Glasford. She is a proud mother of four children and also loves being a grandmother of three. In her free time, she enjoys photography, baking, and traveling. She enjoys her work here as the office manager of St. Paul Church.
